National Health Reform’s BIG Month of JULY

July 8, 2009

It’s everywhere. Articles, news stories, editorials, the radio – national health reform is everywhere.

What we’re hearing from DC is that next week in particular could be health reform’s “biggest week”  of the summer. Why? For one thing, the Senate Finance Committee is expected to release their draft bill later this week or next Monday. As you know, that bill will reveal all the ‘pay fors’ and financing mechanism ideas from the Senate. There is still much speculation about what might be in the bill, and we are as anxious as everyone else to see it.

Please note this Affordability brief from Community Catalyst about the cost of health coverage. Access, afforability, and the benefit packages continue to be a large part of the focus of debate.

We at CFPC continue to push for a strong benefit package, particualrly for children and they are growing and developing. I will post those messaging points soon.

Thanks for reading, and please do let us know if you have contact with the Iowa Congressional delegation on this issue.
